level of piano pieces
I have defined “piece” as being the musical unit of a sonata, or a single piece in a cycle, which is why bach’s “well-tempered clavier” part i comprises a total of 48 levels of difficulty (each prelude and fugue is considered separately), schumann’s sonata in f sharp minor op.11 only has a single number.. Early intermediate pieces encompass levels 3-6 and are suitable for students or adults with a basic background and understanding of piano technique and notation. late intermediate pieces include levels 7-10 and require more advanced technical skills, and a higher level of proficiency reading and playing piano music.. Piano levels can vary from country to country, and even from region to region within a country. you may be considered advanced in your own small town, but not when you get to the big leagues. also, a piano level does not determine where you are at in your capabilities of composing music or improvisation.. level of piano pieces
