I'd say piano, you will develop a hand strength and coordination that will be applyable on guitar later, but the other way around would be harder, as for the 'sound', i don't agree, if you study properly music theory and learn to tune you guitar correctly you will get the right sound for the note and will pick up the tones from other instruments..
